Library information

The library at Miraj Mahavidyalaya is a vital learning resource, spanning 3,370 sq. ft. and offering a safe, comfortable, and well-ventilated environment for students and faculty. With seating for 200 students and 25 faculty members, it features distinct arrangements for boys, girls, and faculty, all furnished with high-quality, ergonomic furniture.

Automated through the “Vidyasagar-Library Management Software,” the library efficiently manages transactions and cataloging. Since 2022, an ID card-based user tracking system has been implemented to monitor attendance in the library and reading room. Users can easily search a vast collection through the Web OPAC system, which integrates resources from over 75colleges.

The library boasts a diverse collection with a total of 17,912 titles and 35017 volumes. This includes various categories such as bound periodicals, donated materials, e-media, and textbooks for both junior and postgraduate students. The collection is designed to meet the diverse needs of students, faculty, and researchers.

Digital access is a significant strength of the library. Since 2011, it has been a member of INFLIBNET’s N-List, providing access to over 6,000 e-journals and 199,500 e-books. Additionally, students can access free e-books through resources like the National Digital Library.

Library services include book circulation, reference assistance, inter-library loans, and user orientation programs. The library also hosts annual book exhibitions to foster a reading culture among students. Additional facilities include a book bank for textbook borrowing, reprography services, and high-speed internet access for all users.

In conclusion, Miraj Mahavidyalaya Library stands as an essential hub for academic growth, equipped with modern resources and services that cater to the educational needs of its community. Its blend of physical and digital facilities creates an enriching environment for learning and research.

History

Yashwant Shikshan Sanstha, Sangli (Kupwad) was established in 1960 by freedom fighter Deshbhakt R.P.Patil (Anna). The college was established in 1993 with its vision, “ To make the institute a leading center imparting quality education with special emphasis on overall development of students”.

GOAL: - Education for Empowerment and Enrichment

Keeping this view in mind the chairman of the institution and Ex- Member of Legislative Assembly, Prof. Sharad Patil established college in Miraj City on 15 th July 1993. It was established with the view that education is the right of everyone and one should not remain away from this right.
Library is a heart of an institution and it is also known mirror of college where the image of college is reflected in the true sense. Library facilities are provided to the students, teaching and non- teaching staff.
